Space.

This is a horrible picture, but oh well, you will get the idea.  I made a ton of stars on white paper, and had the kids decorate them.  I also had the kids make glow in the dark stars and planets using Elmer's glue and glow in the dark paint.  They made thick blobs of the mixture onto wax paper, so you could peel it off, then backed the blobs onto paper, and hung them up.  I also had the kids make rockets and paint white circles to look like planets.  Hanging in front of the wall from the ceiling I made stars.  I used cardboard star shapes and covered them in foil, hole punched them and hung them at different lengths.  Again sorry for the picture.

Disney Enthusiast

So this is the only picture that I have from working at the Boys and Girls Club.  I think it from 2005 or 2006.  Not sure, but I know I had just gotten back from a trip to Disneyland.

Just applying lipstick on a Roller Coaster at California Adventure... normal, right?

I love it!

So I decided to make Cinderella's Castle for our birthday wall.  It took me awhile, because I cannot draw that well.  It is not an exact replica, but you get the idea.

I used water color paints to color the castle.

Then I had the kids at the site decorate solid color Mickey (or Minnie) faces and write their birthday.  It turned out pretty cute.

And then to stick with the Disney theme, I had the kids make crowns and Mickey Mouse ears and took their pictures and hung the pictures next to their Mickey faces on the wall.

I also made Mickey ears for the letter 'M' week while I was teaching kindergarten in Costa Rica.  If I find the pictures I will post them...

And it all started when...

So I had an idea to start posting pictures of the classrooms wall art.  It is something that I really enjoy doing.  I have worked with children since the beginning of time... I started at the Boys and Girls Club, and after 6 long years there I thought "hmm...  I wonder what it would be like to not work with kids... "  So I got a job working at a mortgage company, well that was a super short experience for me, for one thing, I was horrible at it, and another thing, I missed working with kids.

So I went merrily on my way, and found another position at the YMCA, what can I say, I love non-profits.  And after about 2 1/2 years I got a teaching position in Costa Rica teaching kindergarten at a private school... best experience of my entire life!
Long story short, I moved back home and now work for a head start program for a school district.

I think I got most of my creative genes from my mom...

See, she is goofy just like me...

But at least I have fun!
